A springbok lamb is born in seclusion, often in a special birthing veld that is deemed safe for the very vulnerable mother and lamb.
Young springbok lambs may be very curious exploring their new world.
They soon learn that their world is not all that safe with predators around. This young lamb was perhaps lucky to escape.
Some will eventually run out of their luck.
Horns appear a few months after birth and they’re ready to go independent. The lucky ones have their mothers in perfect condition until that time.
It’s mostly fun and play for springbok lambs when there are no predators around, as this young pronking lamb demonstrates.
